Job Description Job Description Job Title: Staff Physical Therapist Effective Date: June 1, 2004 Job Summary: Evaluation, diagnostic testing, and treatment of all patients as prescribed by a referring physician. Responsible to: Director of Rehabilitation Services Supervision Exercised: Supervises staff if the absence of the department Director Qualifications: A. Education: The registered physical therapist shall be duly licensed by the State of Iowa and maintain a current license in full force and effect during the term of employment. Must meet all Medicare program requirements for physical therapists. Must be BLS prepared. B. Experience: No previous experience required. Alternative to Minimum Qualifications: None. C. Typical Physical Demands: A full range of body motion is required including manual and finger dexterity to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Frequently (up to 2/3 of time) is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequently required to lift 50 pounds and/or transfer patients. Must be physically able to enter all types of homes and assess a variety of patients within their home environment. D. Typical Working Conditions: The work is performed indoors with controlled temperatures, minor variations in temperature and humidity may occur with whirlpool, etc. The noise level is moderate. Occasional exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common in a hospital environment. Works with and around various pieces of large equipment used in therapy. Occasional exposure to travel hazards to and from patient homes.
