Job Title: Seasonal Physical Therapist Profession: Physical Therapy Specialty: FGH Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday through Friday Hours per Shift: 8 am to 4:40 pm (30-minute lunch) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Valid permanent license as a physical therapist or Compact License Certifications: Basic Life Support certification required Must-Have: 2 hours of CVA specific continuing education within the most recent 4 months Description: The Seasonal Physical Therapist is responsible for implementing the physician's order for physical therapy services. They provide all necessary aspects of physical therapy within an interdisciplinary environment. The goal is to facilitate the return of the patient to as independent and safe a lifestyle as possible. The Seasonal Physical Therapist should have knowledge of growth and development to care for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. They must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. They should possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the relevant information to identify each patient's specific needs. The Seasonal Physical Therapist must be able to perform patient evaluations using appropriate functional tests and measures. They should demonstrate the ability to assimilate objective measures along with social factors, medical stability, activity restrictions, participation limitations, or other relative comorbidities. This helps determine functional deficits and construct short-term and long-term goals. They must work collaboratively to establish the therapy diagnosis and appropriate plan of care. The role involves tolerating physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients while ensuring safety. Proper and secure documentation in the Electronic Medical Record is required. Critical thinking is essential for patient evaluation and treatment planning. Understanding of moist heat and other commonly used physical agent modalities is important. The Seasonal Physical Therapist should utilize age-specific patient care indicators as necessary per the plan of care. Demonstrating knowledge of the musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary systems is crucial in relation to each structure. They must appropriately identify learning needs of patients or family members. Working as a team member is vital to assist patients and families at all points of entry into the therapy care system.
