Job Description
Job Title: Central Sterile Educator Profession: Education/Quality Assurance Specialty: Central Sterile Processing Duration: Full-Time Shift: M-F W/e & H 7am-3pm Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Relevant experience in sterile processing and education License: Appropriate certifications for position Certifications: Relevant quality assurance certifications preferred Must-Have: Strong knowledge of sterile processing standards and quality assurance practices Description: The Central Sterile Educator & Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and appraisal of orientation, competency, and quality assurance programs. This position oversees the professional development for central sterile department personnel. The coordinator is also responsible for the development and maintenance of department policies and procedures. Collaborates with supervisors and safety personnel to allocate workload to staff members effectively. Coordinates the new employee orientation and onboarding processes. Evaluates, creates, and updates central sterile policies and procedures as needed. Ensures that preference cards and electronic databases are maintained accurately per current inventory and procedural needs. Manages the central sterile competency program, ensuring compliance and performance standards. Demonstrates the ability to collect and interpret relevant data. Exhibits comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise in sterile processing equipment and inventory control principles. Works effectively as part of a team to achieve departmental and organizational outcomes. Coaches staff to encourage, motivate, and guide them in learning and improving effectiveness. Utilizes critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to analyze situations accurately and make productive decisions. Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail with high levels of information processing accuracy. Collaborates in developing, implementing, and evaluating quality assurance activities, policies, and procedures. Effectively communicates pertinent information to management, colleagues, and staff. Evaluates sterile processing policies and procedures to assure practices align with professional standards and regulations. Manages the quality assurance program with a multi-disciplinary approach to enhance clinical outcomes. Keeps current on standards, regulations, protocols, products, and equipment relevant to sterile processing. Develops individualized performance improvement plans focused on enhancing staff work performance. Educates staff on relevant practices and evaluates competencies related to processing and preparation of instruments. Collaborates with infection control personnel to achieve effective workflow. Provides expert knowledge in developing processes for transporting instrumentation. Participates in readiness plans and site visits for compliance and quality assurance evaluations.
