Job Description

Job Title: CAT Scan Technologist Profession: Imaging Specialty: Radiologic Technology Duration: Full-time Shift: 3P-11P or 4P-12A Hours per Shift: Varies Experience: Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography program License: NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required Certifications: ARRT registered (RT) and/or (CT), NMTCB registered (CNMT), BLS certification through the American Heart Association Must-Have: - Documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection - Continuing education requirements to meet standards set forth by governing bodies Description: Performs routine and special procedure imaging. Prepares patients for procedures. Assists radiologists during examinations. Prepares, operates, and maintains imaging equipment. Processes images and CDs as needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of care. Applies radiation protection principles to minimize exposure. Assumes responsibility for assigned duties. Participates in departmental customer service programs. Conducts quality assurance activities as assigned. Performs diagnostic imaging utilizing CAT scan equipment. Exercises professional judgment during procedures. Prepares and positions patients for examinations, ensuring proper documentation. Produces high-quality images, reviewing exams for completeness and accuracy. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations. Informs senior staff when supplies need to be ordered. Available for emergency procedures and situations in the department. Works on call, holidays, and different shifts to ensure adequate coverage. Maintains cleanliness of work areas and equipment. Reports malfunctioning equipment. Processes images or prints CDs as required. Handles routine office duties, including answering phones and documenting patient information. Notifies transport services when patients are ready. May serve as an instructor when assigned. Treats all individuals in a professional and courteous manner. Introduces self to patients using two identifiers and explains procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and skills in patient care for various populations. Performs quality assurance tasks and calibrations as required. Attends staff meetings and in-service sessions. Duties and hours are subject to change based on departmental needs. On standby for emergency department coverage. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Aware of specific departmental protocols and policies.
