Job Description

Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Outpatient Profession: Radiologic Technology Specialty: Sonographer/Ultrasound Tech Duration: Full-Time Shift: Monday-Friday 09:30am-5;3pm Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Relevant experience in diagnostic imaging License: State License in Radiologic Technology Certifications: ARRT Certification in Sonography (or equivalent) Must-Have: Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team environment Description: Performs routine and some special procedure imaging, diagnostic, and medical sonograms. Prepares patients for procedures. Assists Radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates, and cares for the equipment being used. Develops or processes films when necessary. Adheres to established radiology standards of care. Obtains appropriate continuing education. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to facility-wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Provides patient care. Understands and adheres to performance standards, policies, and behaviors. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, and orders supplies. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel. Processes CDs or prints pictures as needed. Performs routine office tasks, including answering phones, checking in patients, and obtaining previous reports or films. Shows the radiologist all images and calls reports to the attending physician, documenting communication if necessary. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor. Treats all individuals in a professional and courteous manner, upholding behavioral standards. Introduces and educates patients and/or family members regarding the examination that is ordered. Knowledgeable and skillful in providing care based on the age, physical, and psychosocial stature of patient populations. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the practices. Coverage rotation to other outpatient sites may be required. Position is eligible for certification incentive.
