Position: Med Surg RN- Lawton, OK Location : Lawton, OK Project Duration : 14 Weeks Shift : Night Shift Job Description: The Med-Surg RN provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients admitted to the medical-surgical unit. This includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, ensuring safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing practice. Key Responsibilities : Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and document findings accurately. Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs and physician orders. Administer medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, etc.), monitor responses, and manage IV fluids/infusions safely. Monitor patient vital signs, laboratory and diagnostic results; recognise and respond to changes in patient condition. Perform wound care, catheter care, drain management, and other clinical procedures as required. Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, procedures, discharge planning and self-care. Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely and accurate manner. Adhere to infection control procedures, patient safety protocols, and fall and pressure-ulcer prevention programmes. Assist in the orientation and mentoring of new staff, participate in quality improvement activities and unit meetings. Maintain compliance with hospital and unit policies, regulatory standards (e.g., JCI, NABH, or local accreditations), and nursing best practices. Qualifications: Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) licence in [State/Country]. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred (or Associate Degree in Nursing plans to pursue BSN). Minimum of [X] years of experience in a medical-surgical setting preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Strong clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
