Job Description

Role Overview The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for analysing plant stoppages and breakdowns, compiling statistical reports on downtime, and tracking maintenance KPIs. This role will be for a duration of /- 36 months The role includes executing preventative and predictive maintenance activities and supporting maintenance teams during breakdowns to ensure minimal production downtime. Key Responsibilities Breakdown Analysis & Reporting Analyse all plant stoppages and breakdowns, compile statistical summaries, and track historical data. Monitor and report on maintenance KPIs. Conduct root-cause analysis immediately after breakdowns, documenting causes, countermeasures, and actions on required control sheets. Maintenance & Repairs Repair faulty components and equipment such as welding guns, servo-pneumatic valves, transmission modules, tucker guns, and sealer equipment. Diagnose and resolve robotic electronic communication issues by adjusting robot programs to prevent repeat faults. Repair and optimise equipment related to sealer, toxing, welding, laser, bolting, and rivet joining technologies. Automation & Control Systems Analyse PLC programs to identify and resolve Interbus or Profinet network errors and determine corrective actions. Fault-find, configure, and program SEW drives using diagnostic tools such as Movitools and Motion Studio. Modify and improve diagnostic software on HMIs to speed up fault identification during production stoppages. Download robot and PLC program backups to ensure quick recovery in cases of data loss. Technical Support & Collaboration Investigate severe or recurring production stoppages and determine effective preventative measures. Liaise with equipment suppliers and the Group technology experts to source solutions for complex equipment failures. Ensure that robot safety circuits meet required safety standards. Documentation & Knowledge Management Maintain thorough documentation of production stoppages, breakdowns, problem sheets, KMS entries, TPM sheets, and PM schedules. Ensure maintenance knowledge is captured, distributed, and applied to prevent future breakdowns. Minimum Qualifications National Nated Diploma, National Diploma, BTech, BEng, or BSc in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics . Experience Requirements Minimum of 5 years experience in a vehicle manufacturing maintenance environment or industrial technical environment. Essential Requirements Ability to read E-Plan electrical and pneumatic drawings . Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to undergo and pass an internal technical assessment. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, public holidays, and during plant shutdowns. Willingness to form part of the standby roster . Successful completion of compulsory VASS training. A strong attendance record.
