We seek engineering managers passionate about operational systems, open source technologies, and cutting-edge hardware to lead engineering teams in optimizing Ubuntu for the latest x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x, and POWER systems. Role Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of engineers, from graduate to senior levels. Oversee commercial engagements and support timely project delivery. Serve as technical lead on complex customer system architecture engagements. Implement disciplined engineering processes. Maintain and integrate platform-oriented software stacks. Optimize Ubuntu for new hardware platforms. Display technical leadership internally and externally. Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation. Collaborate with leadership and other teams on strategy and execution. Candidate Requirements Exceptional academic background from high school and university. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or an alternative compelling narrative. Fluency in C, C++, and Python. Experience with Linux and operational systems software. Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or other Linux distributions. Proven leadership in software engineering teams. Professional proficiency in English. Ability to communicate effectively, share feedback, and collaborate. Self-motivated, thoughtful, and result-oriented. Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks. Preferred Skills Experience with open source communities and licenses. Knowledge of computer architecture (x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x). Understanding of build systems and cross-compilation tools. Customer engagement experience. Experience with board bring-up, validation, virtualization, networking, or graphics stacks. Familiarity with Docker/OCI, Kubernetes, confidential computing, RDMA, Infiniband, high-performance computing, benchmarking, and profiling.
