Senior Engineer - Trades Security

Avanciers is a premier IT Staffing/Consulting organization and we are currently recruiting for a long term contract role for one of our premier client in Canada for Senior Engineer – Trades Security . This is a Hybrid role and client is actively hiring for this position. Job Title: Senior Engineer – Trade Surveillance Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) Duration: 3-4 months but increase in length Overview: We are looking for a seasoned Software Developer with a strong background in Compliance Transformation and Trade Surveillance to design and implement configuration-driven systems that process Order Lifecycle events . The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of experience in Trade Surveillance, Trade Venue lifecycle management, and Conflict Management. This role involves building scalable data pipelines, integration workflows, and alerting mechanisms to enhance surveillance platforms for effective monitoring and actionable insights. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop configuration-driven systems that process Order Lifecycle events for trade surveillance and compliance. Build and optimize ETL pipelines using tools such as Informatica, Talend, Databricks, or SSIS to extract, transform, and load data efficiently across systems. Ensure data reliability and quality for analytics and reporting using both on-premises and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure Data Factory). Develop and maintain scalable backend applications and data pipelines using Java (Spring Boot) and Apache Kafka . Integrate backend systems to ensure efficient and secure data processing leveraging modern DevOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Design, develop, and deploy workflow components using enterprise-grade workflow platforms and standards. Collaborate with compliance, data, and surveillance teams to deliver effective monitoring and reporting solutions. Technical Skills: Programming & Scripting: Strong proficiency in Java for enterprise application development. Experience with Python for automation, data analytics, and scripting. Working knowledge of MQ, Kafka, and REST APIs for data integration and communication. Data Engineering & Analytics: Expertise in SQL for complex data querying and transformation. Familiarity with distributed file systems (HDFS) and modern data platforms such as Dremio, Data Mesh, and Snowflake for cloud analytics and data virtualization. Platform Configuration & Domain Expertise: Hands-on experience as a Platform SME or Configuration Specialist with deep understanding of Trading Hub platforms and their mathematical models. Skilled in designing and implementing surveillance solutions across multiple asset classes , leveraging existing models to ensure compliance and performance.
