Job Description
We are seeking a Strategic IT Leader to oversee a portfolio of technology initiatives that drive innovation, operational excellence, and long-term business growth within our transportation and logistics operations. This role combines strategic planning, technical expertise, and hands-on leadership , ensuring that all technology projects align with corporate objectives and deliver measurable business value. Strategic IT Planning Maintain clear and routine line of sight to the portfolio of Technology initiatives for the Business/Operational & Technology leadership teams. Ensure the initiatives within the portfolio clearly align to corporate goals (Business or Technical) and facilitate the sequencing of said initiatives according to the Business Division’s prioritization. Ensure choices on Technology initiatives support long-term growth Team Leadership & Talent Development Mentor and coach team members to drive success, collaboration and out of the box thinking Manage all administrative aspects of the team Ensure efficient use of resources across multiple projects and technical initiatives Analysis of team KPIs for future time allocation and planning Application Portfolio Ownership Develop Subject Matter Expertise for the applications and provide input into solving business and technology problems. Provide Production Support for the applications within the portfolio Ensure the availability, performance and scalability of applications Monitoring system usage and pro-actively optimize based on business/operational needs Manage application related risks and ensure disaster recovery plans are in place Tracking of support and project progress using IT defined tools and ensure timely delivery Assisting with sales by responding to technical inquiries and collaboration with potential customers Collaboration with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and workflows Financial Oversight Effectively create and manage the budget for application and project portfolio. Ensure vendor/partner contracts are managed and invoices are reviewed/approved in a timely manner. On-Site Support/Travel Some travel required on a per project basis to other facilities within Canada On-site support and training presence when required at Transport Terminals Must haves: Strong experience managing a technical team that delivers outcomes effectively. Previous hands-on experience as an analytical developed over 5 years working in the capacity of a Support Analyst, Business Analyst or related roles. Proficient within Transportation Management Systems integrated with various related technologies. Demonstrated experience working with Salesforce to manage workflows, track performance, support daily operations. Experience working within the Supply Chain along with a good understanding of the Operational lifecycle that is managed and enhanced by systems. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation). Keen self-starter who is interested to learn new technologies and enjoys leading change. Someone who relishes autonomy and can self-initiate to cut through ambiguity. Ability to support multiple initiatives concurrently, balancing support and projects, and recognizes the importance of prioritization. Comfortable wearing multiple hats and working in a very ‘team first’ environment. Technically competent with MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project). Completion of a post-secondary degree in an analytical specialization (Engineering, Sciences or Business with IT concentration preferred) or equivalent practical experience. Nice to haves: Lean Six Sigma or process improvement training Logistics/Transport industry certifications Experience using Wrike, ManageEngine or other work management tools IT industry certifications Competence using SQL to query databases Experience with release management and scrums Experience working with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI Scope: Weekend and afterhours work could be required based on type of project activity or phase. Some travel may be required depending on the scope of the project.
