Job Description
Director Sales & Business Development (m/f) Agro-solutions UPM Biochemicals is seeking a Director Sales & Business Development to lead and manage market introduction, sales, and business development for our lignin‑based biostimulants and complementary products at a global level. The role will develop go‑to‑market strategies, acquire key customers, represent UPM at trade shows, and support strategic planning. What You Will Do Lead and manage market introduction, sales, and business development for our novel, lignin‑based biostimulants and complementary products, with global responsibility. Develop go‑to‑market strategies for individual countries / sub-regions, including establishing an effective distribution network. Develop and continuously refine winning value‑propositions for each target segment. Acquire key customers in our target markets, from initial contact to supply contracts. Establish relationships with key players along the value chain. Engage in activities related to product development, testing in greenhouse and field, as well as registration and certification. Represent UPM at relevant trade shows and conferences. Develop and implement supply chain concepts. Cooperate with other teams, ensuring seamless communication among UPM Biochemicals and the UPM Corporation network. Serve as the first contact within UPM Biochemicals for all agro‑related customer activities such as logistics and finance. Support management in strategic planning and corporate decision‑making. Who You Are You have a master’s degree in agronomics or another relevant subject and at least 5 years of professional experience. You have a proven track record in identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities related to biostimulants. You are a dynamic, passionate person with a positive spirit, excellent influencing and collaboration skills. You have experience working at the customer interface. You have a broad contact network with operators along agrochemicals value chains. You can convert research data into selling arguments and understand the value of biostimulants and new agricultural practices. You are familiar with the regulatory environment for biostimulants in the EU and have contacts in organizations such as EBIC. You are passionate about developing sustainable solutions in the agricultural sector. You are flexible in travelling (≈40‑60%). You are fluent in English and Spanish. You appreciate constructive feedback, both receiving and providing. You translate analysis into clear targets and actions that result in business outcomes. You are proactive, think long‑term, identify solutions in conflicting requirements, and tolerate ambiguity. You thrive in a complex business environment, cooperating with agile teams and networking.
