Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Med Surg; Additional Notes from VMS= Neuro Surgical Job Details: • Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM • 36 guaranteed hours per week (48-hour contracts available upon request) • Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts • Three weekends out of every six-week schedule required • Every other holiday rotation required • Float requirement: First to float within skillset to other campuses with 2-hour notice • Must have current active compact nursing license • Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS • Minimum 2 years of strong neuro experience, 1 travel assignment, and trauma level II experience required • Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class • Must pass Basic Dysrhythmia Exam • Care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms • Required skills: NIHSS/dysphagia screening, strong neuro assessments, basic telemetry interpretation, strict intake and output monitoring, catheterization, heparin drip initiation/titration, blood product administration, venipuncture, blood cultures, NG tube management, and indwelling drain management • Patient ratio: 1:5-7 patients during night shifts on 37-bed unit • Navy blue scrubs required with no competing health system or agency logos • May require precepting of students and new hires in teaching hospital environment • Three call-ins can result in termination • Associate Degree or Certificate required Facility: This healthcare organization operates as a teaching hospital with excellent leadership and a strong, well-developed team of staff nurses who welcome travelers.
