Job Description Job Description Regulatory Labeling Scientist – Austin, IN Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule | Salary: $70,000–$90,000 (Higher for exceptional candidates) Introduction: Qualified Staffing is currently hiring a Regulatory Labeling Scientist for a leading food manufacturing company located in Austin, IN. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about food labeling, compliance, and process improvement. The Regulatory Labeling Scientist plays a key role in ensuring all products meet FDA, USDA, and third-party standards, collaborating across departments to manage product data, labeling accuracy, and certification compliance. Schedule: Hybrid Work Schedule: Monday & Friday: Remote Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: Onsite (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) Position Summary: The Regulatory Labeling Scientist supports the R&D Manager and Label Regulatory Specialist by reviewing ingredients and recipes for compliance, managing label data, and ensuring product accuracy across all regulatory and customer requirements. This position also plays a vital role in supporting certifications, audits, and continuous improvement efforts within the labeling and compliance process. Key Responsibilities: Ingredient & Recipe Compliance: Review and interpret ingredient lists and recipes to ensure compliance with FDA and USDA labeling regulations. Verify product labeling against applicable health and wellness claims. Label Development & Management: Create and manage Nutrition Facts Panels and ingredient statements. Maintain and update label data within SAP PLM systems. Support customer artwork development and revisions through SAP Engineering Change Management. Customer & Certification Support: Collaborate with customers on product labeling and specification approvals. Manage USDA approvals and certifications (Organic QAI, Non-GMO, Kosher OU). Ensure timely and accurate documentation for label submissions and revisions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Food Safety, QA, Purchasing, and Operations teams. Support internal and external audits to maintain regulatory readiness. Regulatory Leadership: Research and interpret new and updated food labeling regulations. Draft white papers and regulatory position statements as needed. Promote continuous improvement and compliance culture throughout the organization. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, QA, or Food Safety within the food industry. Strong understanding of FDA, USDA, HACCP, and food labeling guidelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP preferred). Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills. Strong problem-solving ability and high attention to detail. Highly collaborative team player who thrives in a cross-functional environment. Ability to travel as needed. Requirements: Must have relevant experience in food labeling or regulatory compliance. Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
