Job Description

Systems Safety Engineer is needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client onsite in Tucson, AZ *Must have ability to obtain a secret clearance Job Description: This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join us on the Naval Powers (NP) System Safety team in Tucson, AZ. As a Senior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include: * Leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs * Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer's approved equivalent * Coordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities * Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls. * Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds Key Responsibilities will include: * Performing System Safety Program, Hazard analyses or Design analyses * Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process * Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards * Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program * Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design Qualifications You Must Have: * Typically Requires : Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position. * Experience with : System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering. * The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer: * Experience in weapon combat systems * Experience with DoD System Safety Programs * Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development * Ability to solve complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material * Strong written, verbal and presentation skills * Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel * Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Employment Pre-requisites The following requirements must be met to be eligible for this position: successful completion of a background investigation, and drug urinalysis.
