DECKHAND with Security Clearance

Duties * You will Assist in the operation, maintenance and repair of Naval tugs and crafts assigned to the Navy Region Northwest, Port Operations. * You will perform light rigging when required. Operate deck cranes, winches capstans, and fire equipment. * You will be responsible for the proper handling of towing lines, and safe operation of deck equipment. * You will see that it that lines are properly tied to docks or floating plant which tug is tending. * You will function as a line handler for arrival and departure of vessels. * You will relieve the Captain in the pilot house during certain operations. * You will navigate and maneuver tugs alongside certain objects including barges and docks. * You will perform maintenance of vessel mechanical systems, deck machinery, and painting preservation. * You will perform daily checks of oil boom, including cleaning and repairs. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
