Top Employer 2025 has an opportunity for a maintenance planner within the engineering department. Purpose of the role: To manage the maintenance and technical services function, develop and implement maintenance management systems and monitor maintenance performance to ensure efficient operation of equipment and facilities across the group. Responsibilities: Maintenance management Develop and implement maintenance strategies and procedures Utilize the latest management tools to ensure effective maintenance of all assets. Apply the latest maintenance safety technologies to ensure best-in-class maintenance safety performance and statutory compliance. Develop detailed systems from preventive maintenance routine (PMR) findings and corrective maintenance activities for all maintenance teams. Analyse and revise screen corrective maintenance (CM) job cards and burning maintenance issues for opportunities to perform root cause failure analysis to prevent future failures. Coordinate root cause analysis. Attend to procedural and equipment issues. Analyse spare parts inventory requirements Implement managements procurement requirements for spares, materials and outsourced work. Coordinate the drawing of detailed maintenance tasks per asset. Assist with planning of new projects, including progress tracking reports and critical spares lists. Assist with shutdown planning. Identify, assess and propose new ways of managing maintenance. Compile accurate periodic reports (weekly/monthly/quarterly/annually). Proactively manage communication and relationships with stakeholders. Minimum requirements: Occupational certificate: Maintenance planner (or equivalent qualification) or a valid trade certificate with further training in maintenance management. National diploma in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering will be advantageous. 5 -6 years experience in maintenance management. Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Afrikaans and English. Knowledge and attributes: Knowledge of maintenance management systems. Knowledge of maintenance management performance parameters. Knowledge of grain handling and grain storage equipment. Regulatory and compliance awareness. Focus on innovation and sustainability. Analytical thinking. Good planning and organising skills
