Job Summary The Compounding Formulation Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to, developing, testing, and optimizing sterile and nonsterile formulations in compliance with USP guidelines. This is a crucial role for a meticulous and detail-oriented professional who can help our new R&D Department meet the urgent demand for new products and advance our formulation pipeline. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize sterile and nonsterile formulations, ensuring stability, compatibility, and efficacy. Conduct pre-formulation studies, solubility testing, and compatibility assessments. Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and leadership to translate concepts into validated formulations. Prepare detailed formulation records, master formulas, and compounding documentation in compliance with USP and internal SOPs. Perform analytical testing (pH, osmolality, potency verification in coordination with third-party labs). Ensure compliance with cGMP, USP, FDA guidance, and state board regulations. Assist in troubleshooting formulation challenges and providing technical support to production. Contribute to R&D reports, validation protocols, and quality documentation. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s or other advanced degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. At least 2 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical compounding, with a focus on sterile and nonsterile dosage forms. At least one year of prior experience in a 503A or 503B compounding setting. Familiarity with USP , , , and 503A pharmacy requirements. Proven knowledge of excipients, buffers, preservatives, and drug stability. Meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. A demonstrated aptitude for experimental design and execution. Proven experience with sterile technique, aseptic processes, and the use of primary engineering controls. Preferred Understanding of regulatory requirements for compounded preparations. Experience with advanced dosage forms Previous experience in technology transfer, moving formulations from a laboratory setting to a production environment. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via virtual meeting Ability to maintain focus in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms, such as typing Benefits A full-time, on-site, position with a competitive salary of $75,000 - $80,000 annually.
