Senior Quantity Surveyor Full Time, Permanent Salary: £54,180 to £76,944 Location: Basingstoke Our client, a leading organisation in the UK’s transport infrastructure sector, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor. About the job We are expanding our commercial management team to support our client’s annual £1bn investment programme to maintain the Strategic Road Network. As part of this, we have exciting opportunities for Senior Quantity Surveyors to join our team. You will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and be responsible for the end-to-end commercial and contract management of a complex programme of schemes, each valued from £1m to more than £30m. The nature and diversity of the programme will enable you to further develop your leadership and stakeholder management skills, as well as your ability to successfully apply your commercial expertise in a complex delivery environment. The role will be primarily based in our Basingstoke office. We operate a flexible hybrid working approach, meaning the role will combine office and agile home working, with a general expectation of office attendance at least two days per week. Key responsibilities: Lead on the commercial and contract management of all schemes, ensuring that all works are managed in line with the contract and that all contractual matters are responded to within the required timescales. Provide line management, mentoring, training, and coaching in support of team and individual development. Support colleagues pursuing professional qualifications (e.g. MRICS), as applicable. Oversee supply chain management, including enquiry documentation, quotation assessment, works order awards, and instructions to the supply chain where required. Ensure supply chain payment assessments and all relevant documentation are completed on a monthly basis. Ensure scheme cost and value reconciliation is performed to confirm that correct cost capture has occurred across all contracts. Assist with the preparation of scheme forecasts and associated risk profiles. Manage site-level change management, including early warning and compensation event processes and documentation, both with the client and the supply chain, as necessary. About you: Degree in Quantity Surveying or another relevant technical qualification, and a relevant professional qualification at Chartered/Member status (e.g. MRICS, MCInstCES, or equivalent). Demonstrable experience of contract administration, ideally in a portfolio or programme setting, and preferably using NEC forms of contract. Demonstrable experience within a Quantity Surveying/Commercial function, with evidence of providing expert advice and support on complex commercial matters, preferably in a civil engineering or infrastructure environment for either a client or contractor. Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to engage, prioritise, and collaborate effectively as an intelligent customer. Proven experience in line management and mentoring.
