The legal department is a small, agile team of attorneys and paralegals who handle complex litigation and regulatory issues at scale. Key Responsibilities: Manage litigation workstreams related to independent contractor classification, unemployment insurance, and workers’ compensation matters Lead the company’s unpaid revenue litigation strategy, collaborating with internal finance and operations teams Partner with outside counsel and internal stakeholders on high-stakes litigation, discovery, and document management Oversee subpoena and law enforcement response processes, refining internal playbooks and systems Provide practical legal guidance to business teams across product, finance, and operations Contribute to strategy and process improvements within the legal department Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) with minimum 5 years of litigation experience Active California Bar license required Strong background in complex, high-volume litigation—government, DOJ, or AG experience preferred Exceptional written and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and handle ambiguity Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a lean, fast-moving environment Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and creative problem-solving This position offers the best of both worlds—the challenge and pace of high-stakes litigation with the autonomy, flexibility, and innovation of a tech startup.
