Mechanical Fitter

Job Title: Mechanical Fitter Reporting to: Operations Seniority Level: Mid-Career (2 - 4 yrs exp) Region: Gauteng Type: 3 Month Contract Duties and Responsibilities: Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on production and packaging equipment Conduct inspections to ensure machinery efficiency and minimize downtime Troubleshoot mechanical issues and carry out necessary repairs Assist in machine changeovers, setups, and improvements Maintain accurate maintenance and service records Adhere to health, safety, and quality standards Support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department Requirements: Recognised Trade Test as Mechanical Fitter Minimum 3 years post-trade experience in a fast-paced FMCG/manufacturing environment Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills Experience with conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and packaging machinery Knowledge of preventive and reactive maintenance practices Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics Willingness to work shifts, standby, and overtime when required Excellent teamwork, communication, and safety awareness
