Workshop Manager – Heavy Vehicles - Papua New Guinea

Job Description

Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage a team of 35 workshop personnel across all mobile maintenance functions. - Develop and implement structured preventative maintenance systems for all mobile assets. - Coordinate and oversee vehicle repairs, maintenance scheduling, and emergency breakdowns. - Monitor and analyse vehicle performance, utilization, fuel consumption, and tire management. - Ensure full compliance with national health, safety, and environmental regulations. - Manage recruitment, training, and scheduling of workshop personnel. - Administer workshop budgets, monitor costs, and ensure effective use of resources. - Oversee spare parts procurement, stock levels, and supplier relationships. - Manage vehicle lifecycle from acquisition to disposal, ensuring cost optimization. - Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and compliance documentation. - Liaise with other departments, service providers, and contractors to coordinate maintenance activities. - Report regularly on workshop performance metrics, KPIs, and operational improvements. Role Requirements Qualifications - Degree and/or Trade qualification in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. Experience - Minimum of 10 years experience as a Workshop or Service Manager. - Proven experience in managing large mixed fleets of heavy and light vehicles. - Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. - Sound financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and control operational costs. - Experience with fleet management software, telematics, and performance monitoring systems. Skills & Competencies - Strong leadership and staff management capabilities. - Excellent organizational and planning abilities. - High attention to detail with a focus on safety, compliance, and quality standards. - Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and fleet management systems. Employment Package Salary: USD 4,000 per month (net, negotiable for the right candidate) Contract: 3 years (aligned with 3-year work visa) Leave: 44 days per year Flights: 2x return flights to South Africa per annum Accommodation: Provided at no cost to the employee Transport & Fuel: Provided by the company Bonus: Equivalent to 3x monthly salary paid at the end of the 3-year contract Visa & Compliance Requirements Applicants must meet the following visa conditions: - Clean medical record - Clean chest X-ray - Negative HIV test - Clear criminal record Should you not receive a response within 10 working days, please consider your application unsuccessful.
