Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 12/01/2025 Duration: 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU Float Pool position with night shifts and flexibility to cover multiple acute care units. Responsibilities Work in a hospital setting within the Nursing Float Pool Primary coverage in the ED Hold unit with additional floating to ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, Rehab, and other acute care units as needed Patient populations include ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, oncology, ortho, palliative, and rehabilitation Patient diagnoses may include respiratory failure, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, post-operative, CHF, COPD, and general medical-surgical ICU patient ratios of 1:2, PCU/CCU 1:4, Med-Surg 1:5, Rehab 1:8 (team model) Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with weekends varying based on unit needs Floating within scope, with partial shift floating possible between covered units Responsibilities include caring for patients with diverse and complex medical conditions in fast-paced units Participate in ACLS level transports within the hospital and assist ED Hold unit during low transport periods Tech, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist support available 24/7 Orientation includes 2 days hospital orientation, 1 day unit orientation, and 4 hours on new units when floating First time travelers are accepted Schedule provided in 3-week blocks, with up to 5 days time off allowed by request No holiday requests or self-scheduling allowed Must report to assigned unit on time; assignments may vary daily Requirements Current WA or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, invasive line management, and general ICU skills Epic EMR experience preferred Ability to titrate IV medications as required Effective communication and patient education skills required Telemetry competency required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629727.
