Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 12/01/2025 Duration: 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring a RN for an ICU Float Pool position requiring at least two years of ICU experience and a WA or compact RN license. Responsibilities Work in a hospital setting as part of the Nursing Float Pool team Primary assignment in ED Holding with potential to float to MSICU, CVICU, PCU, CCU, Medical/Surgical, Oncology, Ortho, Palliative, and Inpatient Rehab units Patient population includes respiratory failure, GI bleeds, sepsis, DKA, post-op, CHF, COPD, oncology, neuro/recovery, and COVID cases ICU patient ratio is 1:2 based on acuity; other ratios vary by unit (PCU/CCU 1:4, Med/Surg 1:5, Rehab team model 1:8) Higher-level therapies include rotoprone, manual prone, hypothermia protocol, and CRRT, but not responsible for craniotomies or major trauma Uses Epic for EMR, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensing Day shift position with 12-hour shifts; schedule varies by unit needs Floating within scope of practice is required, including partial shifts Main responsibilities include providing critical care nursing across various units with a focus on ED Holding Work with a multidisciplinary team including techs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7 Orientation includes two days of hospital onboarding, one day on assigned unit, and up to four hours on floating units Telemetry competency assessment required First-time travelers are welcome to apply Up to five days of time off may be approved; additional days require manager approval No holiday requests or self-scheduling; expect to work holidays as needed Scrub and dress code requirements will be specified during orientation Requirements Active WA or compact RN license Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Demonstrated proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent management, and invasive line management Epic EMR experience required or preferred Strong communication and patient teaching skills Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629729.
