About the Project Cross Fraser Partnership (CFP) is a Bouygues Construction Canada Inc., Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas Canada Ltd., Pomerleau BC Inc. and Arcadis Canada Inc. general partnership that has been selected to collaboratively deliver a new, eight-lane immersed tube tunnel that will replace the existing George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99. The new tunnel will have three vehicle lanes and one dedicated transit lane in each direction, with a separated active transportation corridor for cyclists and pedestrians. Position Overview The Senior Construction Engineer supports the Construction Manager in overseeing the successful delivery of on-site activities for a large-scale infrastructure project. This role involves direct coordination with subcontractors, engineering, utilities, and procurement to ensure the work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with specifications, timelines, and stakeholder expectations. Reports to: Construction Manager Key Responsibilities Oversee all on-site construction activities to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Lead the safe execution of all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict compliance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture among crews and subcontractors. Lead the site construction team and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and coordination among all stakeholders involved in the project. Identify, address, and resolve technical challenges that arise during the construction phase in collaboration with engineers, subcontractors, and other partners. Verify that engineering designs are implemented accurately and effectively, ensuring compliance with project requirements. Organize, maintain, and ensure accessibility to all project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and change orders. Lead with Procurement / Commercial discipline for scope definition, interdisciplinary reviews and coordination, and review of bids. Manage the mobilization of different subcontractors and documentation reviews with different departments including H&S, Environmental, Quality, and Construction for multiple Work Packages. Monitor and manage project timelines and costs, proactively addressing any potential deviations and implementing corrective measures when necessary. Track and coordinate progress with different Utilities owners and Stakeholders, proactively raising and solving issues for the temporary and permanent relocations of existing Utilities at the job site, including HV/LV electrical lines, Telecom/FO, Water, Sewage. Facilitate communication with project managers, clients, and external stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns in a timely manner. Establish and implement quality assurance protocols, ensuring construction work adheres to set standards, supported by the CFP Quality discipline. Education and Qualifications Minimum 7 years of experience in construction on large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects. Lead the safe execution of all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict compliance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture among crews and subcontractors. Post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience managing complex utilities relocations, temporary works, or multidisciplinary construction interfaces. Strong knowledge of civil and infrastructure construction methods, temporary works systems, and sequencing. Familiarity with permitting, environmental compliance, and municipal coordination. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, construction documents, and design specifications. Experience administering subcontracts, RFIs, change orders, and contract documents. Strong understanding of safety legislation, quality standards, and environmental controls. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence and manage various stakeholders. Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management software (e.g., P6, Procore, or similar) is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to new technologies. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is highly desirable. The expected salary range for this opportunity is $120,000 – $160,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location.
