Principal Transformer Design Engineer

We are currently seeking a Principal Transformer Design Engineer to join us at our Bromsgrove office on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to influence major projects and mentor the next generation of engineering talent. Key Responsibilities: * Lead technical work in the design, manufacturing, specification, testing, and application of power transformers (including grid, auxiliary, HVDC, reactor, and more). * Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for transformer-related engineering matters — including design reviews, failure investigations, and performance assessments. * Develop, maintain, and own technical standards, specifications, and guidance related to transformers, wound plant, and auxiliary systems. * Mentor and lead engineering teams, ensuring quality, compliance with standards, and application of technical best practices. * Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and risk management, ensuring technical feasibility and execution oversight. ✅ What We’re Looking For: * Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. * 5 years of experience in transformer design and/or manufacture, specifically involving high-voltage equipment. * Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams. * Strong verbal and written communication, planning, and organisational skills.
