Controller - Hybrid - No Overtime

Position: Intermediate Controller - Right Hand to the Director of FinanceLocation: Saint-Laurent, QC (Hybrid Schedule)Overview:A leading national importer and distributor in the floral industry is seeking an experienced Intermediate Controller to support the Director of Finance in a pivotal, hands-on role. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive professional looking to take the next step in their accounting career — with direct impact on financial reporting and team management.Key Responsibilities:- Prepare monthly financial statements and support month-end reporting (journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis)- Generate and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs)- Conduct cost and divisional performance analysis, including COGS, margins, and sales trends- Supervise a team of three accounting technicians (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Collections)- Perform bank reconciliations and manage fixed assets accounting- Participate in the annual external audit process- Oversee inventory analysis and cycle count procedures- Support ad hoc financial reporting and special projects as requiredQualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance- 5 to 7 years of relevant accounting experience- Solid understanding of GAAP/ASPE accounting standards- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF)- Supervisory or team leadership experience (strong asset)- Familiarity with Acomba is considered an asset- Self-directed, organized, and proactiveCompensation & Benefits:- Competitive base salary: $120,000 - $140,000 (no bonus)- Hybrid work model: 3 days in-office per week following training- 3 weeks of vacation plus 5 personal days- Flexible working hours within a 37.5-hour workweek (start between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM)- Group insurance plan (60% employer-paid) including health, dental, and vision coverage- RRSP plan currently under development- Minimal overtime, limited to month-end and year-end periodsWhy This Role?This position offers a rare opportunity to work directly alongside senior leadership in a business-critical finance role.
