Job Description Job Description Job Title: Resident Director - A Better Chance of Westport Employment Type : Full Time / Live - in Compensation : $50,000 room & board (estimated total compensation: $156,000) About Us: A Better Chance of Westport is part of a national non-profit organization that provides academically talented male students of color the opportunity to live together in a home, located in Westport, CT, and attend Staples High School. Position Summary : The Resident Director (RD), a live-in position, oversees the ABC Westport residence & academic support for the 6-8 students participating in the program. The RD must be committed to provide the scholars with a sense of community, and with tools necessary to thrive at the ABC House and at school. Responsibilities: The RD is responsible for providing a safe & supportive home-like environment for the live-in students. Other responsibilities include helping with the transition to Westport, providing and supporting robust cultural, social & educational programming that keeps the scholars engaged & inspired. There are administrative, scheduling & operational duties. The RD is supported by the Executive Director, Board of Directors and trained professionals. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, prior experience in education, social work and/ or working with youth. Experience in responding to & understanding the needs of students of color. Excellent leadership, communication & organizational skills. Possession of valid driver’s license & owns a vehicle. Couples will be considered.
