About the Firm Our client is a top-tier UK professional services firm recognised for its strong client relationships, commercial expertise, and collaborative culture. They are now seeking a Billing Assistant to join their growing finance operations team on a temporary basis - there is an opportunity to be offered a permanent role, this business is expanding rapidly. Youll gain exposure to complex client billing processes and work alongside experienced revenue and credit control specialists. The Role As a Billing Assistant, youll play a key role in supporting the firms revenue cycle by ensuring bills are issued accurately, efficiently, and in line with client requirements. Working closely with partners, fee earners, and the wider finance team, youll help manage the full billing lifecycle from preparing draft bills to submitting final invoices via e-billing platforms. Youll also assist with query resolution, VAT checks, and maintaining billing records to support monthly financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Prepare, edit, and process draft and final invoices across multiple practice groups. Ensure all bills comply with client billing instructions , engagement terms, and VAT requirements. Maintain accurate billing data within the firms finance system (e.g. Elite 3E, Aderant, or similar). Submit electronic invoices via e-billing platforms (Collaborati, Legal Tracker, TyMetrix, etc.). Track billing status and follow up with fee earners to ensure deadlines are met. Assist with WIP management , producing billing summaries and reports for partners. Respond promptly to billing and finance queries from clients or internal teams. Support month-end processes and management reporting as required. Ensure all billing activities comply with SRA Accounts Rules and internal financial policies. About You Youll be highly organised, numerically accurate, and comfortable working in a busy, client-focused environment. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with a proactive and professional approach. Essential Skills & Experience: Previous experience in a law firm or professional services finance team Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail Good understanding of VAT and legal billing procedures Proficiency in Excel and practice management systems (e.g. Elite 3E, Aderant, or SOS) Familiarity with e-billing platforms and client billing guidelines desirable Strong communication skills and ability to liaise confidently with partners and fee earners A collaborative, deadline-driven approach with a commitment to quality Whats on Offer Competitive salary (£32,000 £35,000 DOE) - Office based.
