Position : 100360 Expected Start Date: To Be Determined; Posted Until Filled Union: HSAS Facility: Rosetown Health Centre City/Town: Rosetown Department: Ambulance - Land Type: Part-time regular FTE: 0.75 Shift Information: Days, Nights, Evenings, Weekends, Standby Hours of Work: 168.00 hours per 6 week rotation Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: No Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572 Travel Required: No Job Description: Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Human Resources Exemption: No Education Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute Licenses Valid Class 4 driver's license Other Education and Training International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) Current CPR certification Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Competencies Written Communication Skills Basic - Interpersonal skills Listening skills Verbal communication skills Knowledge and Abilities Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook) Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations Ability to exhibit situational awareness Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions Ability to be resilient Other Information Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period. Must be able to respond to the ambulance within 10 minutes when on-call Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
