Civil Engineer

We’re currently working with a leading organisation in the utilities sector that is looking to strengthen its in-house engineering team with the addition of a skilled Civil Engineer . This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful capital projects while mentoring junior team members and helping shape future infrastructure delivery. This is a long term contract position, outside ir35. Key Responsibilities: Review project scopes to ensure alignment with desired outcomes. Provide technical input and support across a range of capital projects. Produce and review key design and compliance documentation (e.g. design drawings, CDM documents, specifications). Conduct technical reviews of design outputs and documentation produced by others. Support and mentor graduate engineers and apprentices as part of their development. Collaborate with both internal stakeholders and external partners to secure project approvals. Carry out site visits, audits, and provide on-the-ground guidance to contractors. Essential Skills & Experience: HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. Proven experience in a similar engineering role within infrastructure or utilities. Familiarity with current industry standards and regulations. Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and its practical application. Background in the design, construction or maintenance of infrastructure (both above and below ground). Ability to work independently while also contributing to wider team goals. Confident communicator able to liaise effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable (but not essential): Working towards or already attained professional Chartership (e.g. ICE, CIWEM). Prior experience within the utilities sector, particularly with potable water systems.
