Cloud Geospatial Solutions Architect Duration : 4 Months Location : Remote Rate : £500 - £550 per day DOE Status : OUTSIDE IR35 Clearance : Eligible for SC Start Date: ASAP Summary: My market leading client are looking to secure the services of a Cloud Geospatial Solutions Architect to assist with critical project work over the coming months. Ideally coming from a strong consultancy background with public sector/GDS experience, consultants will require a strong understanding of delivering secure cloud based infrastructure to support geospatial and land data platforms (Azure preferred). Key Responsibilities: Evaluate existing geospatial systems and platforms to determine whether they can meet technical requirements through extension, integration, or enhancement. Design and propose new cloud-based solutions where existing systems cannot meet capability, scalability, or performance needs. Collaborate with data architects, developers, and operational teams to design cloud-native or hybrid architectures aligned with agreed technology choices and strategic direction. Conduct cost and technical debt analysis to inform reuse versus build decisions. Architect and document end-to-end cloud solutions for data storage, APIs, and geospatial web services. Ensure integration and interoperability with upstream and downstream systems, APIs (including OGC standards based) and authentication models. Implement secure, scalable infrastructure for ingesting, transforming, and distributing spatial data. Ensure compliance with organisational, GDS, and GDPR security and data protection standards. Essential Skills and Experience: Proven experience architecting Azure (preferred) and/or AWS cloud solutions for geospatial or data-intensive workloads. Strong knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and GeoServer or equivalent spatial platforms. Demonstrated ability to assess, extend, or integrate existing systems, and to design and propose new architectures when required. Experience designing and deploying scalable spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, or similar). Strong analytical and communication skills to work across technical and operational domains.
