Electrical Design Engineer

Design Engineer – Wakefield £50,000 per annum 37.5 hours per week Permanent Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Protection and Control Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation based in Wakefield . This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on major high-voltage power transmission and generation projects , supporting design and delivery across the UK’s electrical infrastructure. You’ll be joining an established team within a growing technical department focused on quality, innovation, and safety. Responsibilities Deliver HV light current secondary design work in line with all project, safety, and environmental standards. Produce and review Designer Risk Assessments and ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures. Represent the design department at project meetings including start-up, progress, and closeout reviews. Maintain key internal and external interfaces to ensure smooth project delivery. Support the design and implementation of protection and control systems for substation and transmission projects. Requirements Proven experience in protection and control design for HV networks. Experience on 132/275/400kV projects (essential). Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering . Competent use of CAD Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder skills. BESC and Persons certification desirable but not essential.
