Job Description

RINA is currently recruiting for a Major Accident Hazards Engineer to join its office in Livorno, Genoa or Rozzano (Italy) within the Plant Engineering Division. Mission : This role of Major Accident Hazards Engineer plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Major Risks plants, ultimately contributing to the protection of personnel, the environment, and assets. Key Accountabilities : Assessing Major Risk Activities Conducting comprehensive risk assessments for new plants or plant renewals in accordance with Seveso law regulations. Identifying potential major hazards and assessing their impact on plant operations and surrounding environment. Providing consultancy on preventive or mitigation actions to reduce identified risks. Compiling safety reports and ensuring adherence to Seveso law requirements. Chair and manage HAZOP and SIL assessment workshops. Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Engineering General Qualifications : 2–5 years of relevant experience in risk assessment, fire prevention, and safety management Professional certification or equivalent experience in the field (e.g., CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention, NEBOSH Certificate) Solid knowledge of Seveso regulations and experience with major hazard installations Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and define effective mitigation strategies Experience in fire-fighting system design and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards Understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and related procedures Fluency in Italian and a good command of English (both spoken and written) Competencies : ADDRESS THE WAY - Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective way BUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organization CLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfaction EARN TRUST - Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversity MAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources and constraint MANAGE EMOTIONS - Recognise one's and other's emotions and express and regulate one's reactions PIONEER CHANGE - Actively embrace change and benefit from the new circumstances PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - Promote commitment by keeping promises as a Role Model THINK FORWARD - Capitalise on experiences and translate them into action plans for the future RINA is a multinational company providing a wide range of services in the energy, marine, certification, infrastructure & mobility, industry, research & development sectors.
