American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Neuro ICU for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Neuro ICU Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Neuro ICU position requiring recent ICU and neuro experience as well as AZ or compact RN licensure. Responsibilities Work in a 32-bed Neuro ICU within an acute Level 1 Trauma Center Patient population includes critical neuro cases such as craniotomies, brain tumor removals, ablations, brain biopsies, and complex spine surgeries Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 in ICU and may take a 4:1 patient load when floating to Telemetry units Expected to float between all ICU and Telemetry units and will be first to float if needed Shift schedule is 12-hour nights, 7:00-7:00, with four weekend shifts per four weeks and coverage of two out of four major holidays Uses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts on the unit Provide specialized critical care to neuro ICU patients, including frequent use and monitoring of advanced neuro and cardiac equipment Floating may require a higher patient ratio when assigned to Telemetry units SIMs lab training is required on hire, covering sterile field, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes; failure may result in dismissal Must adhere to a dress code: steel grey scrubs for neuro floors with natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing Charge nurse is present on the unit but does not take patients Team has 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support Holiday coverage is integrated into core staff rotation Candidates must have their own vehicle for travel First-day pass/fail exams and ongoing competency checks are strictly enforced Requirements Active AZ or compact RN license required at the time of consideration BLS and ACLS certifications required and must be current Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience in a large hospital (450 beds) and at a Level 1 Trauma Center Must have previous travel nursing experience of at least 3-6 months Experience with EVD (external ventricular drain) management and strong neuro assessment skills are required Proficiency in ICP monitoring is expected Experience with Cerner EMR preferred Must pass a dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to acceptance; two attempts allowed Must pass a sterile technique test on day one of orientation, covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes Cannot have been directly employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify address No first-time travelers will be considered Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-613807.
