Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center with hematology/oncology patient care and weekend rotation requirements. Responsibilities Position located in a 40-bed adult Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting Primary patient population includes hematology, oncology, leukemia, symptom management, and comfort/end-of-life care RN to patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 based on acuity Support staff includes CNA assistance, unit secretaries, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT Team during days, and access to a hospitalist and RT 24/7 Centralized telemetry monitoring with RNs responsible for rhythm strip verification each shift Equipment includes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Phillips monitoring, and lift equipment Scheduled shifts are either 0630-1900 (days) or 1830-0700 (nights), with an every other weekend rotation Travelers are scheduled to work 75% of holidays Floating required within the cancer center first, then to any med-surg unit in the facility; emergency float to up to 5 facilities Duties include providing specialized care for hematology/oncology patients and performing cardiac rhythm interpretation Strong supportive team environment with access to a variety of support staff and resources Two-day departmental orientation provided after hospital onboarding Royal blue scrubs are required Free onsite parking available Requests for time off may be granted for up to 7 days with extension agreements Travelers are expected to work a holiday schedule covering 75% of major holidays Requirements Active NC or compact RN license Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required for Resource Team roles Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele or oncology nursing experience ONS and OCN certifications preferred but not required Skills required include port access, blood product administration, electrolyte management, end-of-life care, pain and symptom management, PIV starts, and cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with Epic EMR preferred First-time travelers accepted with required experience Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-618662.
