Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer Johannesburg Job Requirements: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Masters degree preferred. Proven experience (5 to 10 years) in a similar role within the mining or heavy equipment industry. Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) Deep understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes. Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Key Areas of Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of design engineers. Product Development: Lead the design and development of new mining equipment and enhancements to existing products. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Manage design projects from inception to completion, including resource allocation, scheduling, budgeting, and milestone tracking. Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, procurement, quality assurance, and sales. Oversee Prototype Testing Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and test reports.
