Job Description Job Description This position is responsible for effective project construction to achieve safe, reliable, and cost-effective installations to the plant. This construction manager role provides leadership, direction, and coordination for the construction of capital, expense, and improvement projects; plans, prioritizes, and communicates work group activities to ensure effective execution of projects per the Project Delivery Work Process. Primary Responsibilities Position is responsible for the safe execution of capital and expense projects assigned; including environmental compliance Along with the PM, this position is responsible for the efficient and effective construction of all capital projects assigned Provides work direction for contractors assigned to support projects (Safety, QA/QC, Schedulers, Cost Controllers, Project Coordinators) Provides input into contracting plans and strategies and balancing on-site resources Works with PM in selecting construction contractors (bid jobs with a value over $250K) Ensure projects are constructed per applicable standards, specifications, and project drawings Ensure project schedules are current and accurate Ensure project costs are reported accurately; helps PM manage RFIs, FCNs, and CO’s Ensures new project equipment and materials are properly stored and protected Ensures accurate as-builts are turned over to PM after construction Provide constructability input into capital project design Responsible for staging, setting up, and maintaining temporary facilities for contractors Maintains a long-range Construction Resource Plan (one year look ahead) Assists in the negotiation and bidding of contracts for capital and expense projects Provides engineering consultants for project reviews Coordinates with Turnaround Team regarding capital projects to be installed during turnarounds Other duties as assigned Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Construction Management is preferred but other degree programs and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Construction Management degree Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Project software Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization utilizing both oral and written skills Must be highly organized and detail oriented Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload Must have an advanced knowledge of industrial construction methods, including but not limited to, piping, civil, E&I, equipment installation, etc. Demonstrated strong technical and leadership skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to exceptional technical, planning, and organizational skills Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and turnarounds as required Be a self-starter and self-motivated Communicates and collaborates effectively Preferences Turnaround planning and scheduling is a plus Bachelor's degree in construction management Relocation is not available with this position.
