Job Description

DAYSHIFT POSITION Reporting to Department Manager Purpose of Role: To lead and manage a team by ensuring high-quality output, operational efficiency, and adherence to client specifications. The Team Leader plays a critical role in guiding the team toward excellence in productivity, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. Resposibilities: Applies broad knowledge of products, techniques, and processes. Evaluates procedures and applies previous experience. Determines own priorities. What has to be done is stipulated; but may require initiative in terms of how it should be done Accountable for the direct product, process, or service quality. Incremental improvement of existing processes and procedures according to clear guidelines. Choosing of correct action on the basis of set standards, training procedures, and past experience Key Performance Areas: Leadership/People Management: Lead by example, demonstrating the company's values and promoting a positive, productive team culture. Manage and supervise the production team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output. Handle HR-related challenges as and when required (Leave planning, queries etc) Handle IR related challenges as and when required including conflict resolution Team engagement & development (coaching & mentoring) Productivity: Be involved in production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet customer deadlines and expectations. Ensure the daily planned schedule and productivity targets are met. Analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize efficiency, productivity, and quality. Monitor and optimize production workflows to minimize waste, reduce downtime, and maximize output Identify and address bottlenecks or constraints in the production process Implement and maintain productivity tracking systems to measure and analyze production performance Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, such as lean manufacturing principles or process improvements Provide coaching and training to production team members to improve their skills and productivity Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment and coordination of production plans and schedules Quality: Execute and maintain quality control processes to ensure products meet the company's quality standards. Collaborate with the technical team to identify and resolve quality issues promptly. Improve efficiency and cost control. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, reduce waste, and improve customer satisfaction. Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to ensure products meet specifications and standards Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality considerations are integrated into production planning and processes Develop and maintain quality metrics and reporting to track performance and identify areas for improvement Ensure production team members are trained on quality control processes and procedures Implement and maintain quality control tools and techniques, such as statistical process control or root cause analysis Reporting: Maintain and report on team performance metrics. Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and areas for improvement Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders, including senior management and team members Develop and maintain dashboards or reports to visualize data and facilitate decision-making Identify and address data quality issues to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reports Collaborate with other teams to gather and integrate data from multiple sources Develop and implement reporting schedules and protocols to ensure timely and consistent reporting Customer Service: Communicate effectively with production staff, other departments, and management to ensure seamless workflow and resolve any issues that may arise. Be involved in production planning to meet customer deadlines and expectations. Ensure production team meets internal customer expectations for quality, quantity, and timeliness of products or services Collaborate with internal customers to understand their needs and preferences, and adjust production plans accordingly Proactively identify and mitigate potential issues that could impact internal customer satisfaction Provide regular updates and feedback to internal customers on production progress and any changes Continuously seek opportunities to improve production processes and services to meet evolving internal customer needs Operational Compliance and Housekeeping: Analyse production data and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor 5s in the department and keep machinery/equipment clean. Ensure machine breakdowns are reported accordingly on E-works. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and company policies in the production area Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards or operational risks Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency in production processes Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule and perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment Ensure proper storage and disposal of materials, supplies, and waste in accordance with company policies and regulations Promote a culture of cleanliness and organization within the production team, and recognize and address any deviations from expected standards Qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Operations Management, Production Management or equivalent. Leadership and management training or certification i.e. supervisory or junior management courses is essential. MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, promotional products industry. Proven leadership and management experience Strong knowledge of production planning, quality control, and productivity management principles. Communication skills Professional knowledge of sub-discipline or discipline. Provide input in the formulation of Organisational/Functional Unit business plans. Formulate and implement departmental/team plans that will support the BU business plans. Optimisation of resources (finances, people, material, information, and technology) to achieve given objectives in the most productive and cost-effective way Competencies: Leadership and people management Accountability and ownership Attention to detail Conflict resolution and interpersonal sensitivity Decision-making under pressure Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Coaching and mentoring Continuous improvement mindset Results orientated.
