Workshop Foreman Automotive Gearbox Company - Rustenburg

Responsibilities: Manage and supervise workshop staff including mechanics, technicians, and assistants Plan and allocate daily work schedules to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency Provide technical support and diagnostic solutions for mechanical and gearbox-related issues Oversee gearbox bench work including stripping, assessing, repairing, and assembling gearboxes Conduct quality control checks on all completed jobs before delivery Perform vehicle and gearbox diagnostics using appropriate tools and equipment Ensure adherence to safety, housekeeping, and operational standards within the workshop Monitor job cards, workflow, and turnaround times, ensuring accuracy and timely completion Liaise with customers, suppliers, and management on technical matters, progress updates, and quotations Provide training, mentorship, and support to junior technicians and apprentices Assist in cost control, productivity tracking, and workshop performance reporting Requirements: 510 years experience in the motor industry (essential) Mechanical Diploma / Certificate / Red Seal Trade Test (Motor or Diesel Mechanic) Proven experience in gearbox bench work and drivetrain repairs Strong background in diagnostics and fault-finding Experience working on trucks and commercial vehicles (advantageous) Solid technical understanding of mechanical and transmission systems Valid drivers licence Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills Motor Industry experience Essential Key Competencies: Strong leadership and team management ability Advanced technical and diagnostic proficiency Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capability Commitment to quality workmanship and safety standards Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Professional, disciplined, and customer-focused work ethic Advantages / Beneficial: Experience with both manual and automatic gearbox systems Familiarity with diagnostic software and modern diagnostic tools Previous experience in a specialist gearbox or drivetrain workshop Please note only candidates with the required experience will be contacted and considered.
