IDR Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Shreveport, Louisiana. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Description Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical (Neurosurgery) Location: Shreveport, LA Start Date: 09/09/2025 Assignment Length: 13 weeks End Date: 12/09/2025 Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Schedule: Full-time, rotating weekends may be required Join a dynamic academic medical center team in a high-acuity Neuro Med/Surg unit. This role provides an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population undergoing complex neurosurgical procedures. RNs must be clinically confident, proactive in patient advocacy, and effective team collaborators. Responsibilities Deliver evidence-based nursing care across the surgical recovery continuum Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care Communicate clearly with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and patient families Support education and learning needs of patients and caregivers Uphold patient safety, infection control, and documentation standards Delegate and supervise tasks among nursing support personnel Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards Adjust communication and care approaches to meet diverse cultural and patient-specific needs Requirements Active RN license in the state of Louisiana (or compact) Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience (Neurosurgery preferred) Current BLS (AHA) – Required CPI Certification (Blue Card) – Required ACLS – Not required Proficient in using EMR systems and comfortable in fast-paced settings Strong interpersonal, time management, and clinical decision-making skills Additional Information Setting: Neurosurgery Med/Surg unit in academic hospital Physical demands: Heavy work; frequent lifting, walking, and patient mobility support Exposure risk: Blood, body fluids, tissue, and communicable diseases Professional conduct, adaptability, and teamwork are essential Scrub color not specified – professional clinical attire expected About IDR Healthcare IDR Healthcare is an awarding winning staffing firm that believes it is a privilege and awesome responsibility to serve those who selflessly care for others.
