Job Description & Requirements Specialty: OR Circulate Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Description Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (Circulator) Location: Shreveport, LA Start Date: 08/28/2025 Assignment Length: 13 weeks End Date: 11/27/2025 Shift: 8-hour Day Shift | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM Schedule: Monday–Friday Call Requirement: 5 weekday call shifts per 6-week schedule 2 weekends per 6-week schedule Holidays as needed This role supports a high-acuity academic OR setting. RNs in the circulator role will coordinate surgical care, ensure patient safety and advocacy, and work closely with surgeons and perioperative teams across a wide range of specialties. Applicants must be confident in fast-paced environments with multiple ORs and high turnover. Responsibilities Serve as circulator RN for surgical cases, ensuring all safety, prep, and documentation standards are followed Advocate for patient safety throughout the perioperative experience Assist with positioning, prepping, equipment setup, and coordination of intraoperative team communication Document intraoperative care, supplies used, and patient updates accurately and promptly Actively collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, scrub techs, and recovery teams Maintain sterile technique and enforce infection control protocols Support orientation of new team members as needed Respond to emergencies with calm, critical thinking and skilled clinical care Requirements Active RN license in Louisiana (or compact state) Minimum 2 years of circulating experience in the OR Current BLS certification (AHA) – Required CPI (Blue Card) – Not required for OR but encouraged depending on facility policy EMR and documentation proficiency Strong clinical judgment, communication, and delegation skills Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain compliance with surgical safety standards Additional Information Circulator experience is required Academic medical center OR setting Heavy lifting and physical demand expected (standing, moving equipment, patient transfers) Scrub color not specified – professional clinical attire required Candidates must be comfortable with routine exposure to blood, tissue, and surgical fluids Must be able to participate in scheduled on-call and weekend rotations Environment includes risk of exposure to communicable disease and hazardous materials in a procedural setting About IDR Healthcare IDR Healthcare is an awarding winning staffing firm that believes it is a privilege and awesome responsibility to serve those who selflessly care for others.
