Employer Description A Luxury Lodge Job Description A well-established luxury lodge in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a reliable, experienced Head Chef to oversee all culinary operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong lodge background and a passion for excellence. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage kitchen staff, ensuring smooth daily operations Plan and execute guest menus Maintain kitchen organisation, hygiene and food safety standards Oversee stock room, stock orders and stock takes Use Excel for stock control, cost tracking and reporting Conduct lodge shopping trips Monitor portion control and reduce food waste Liaise with lodge management to align kitchen operations with guest expectations Ensure timely meal service for guests and staff Manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing where needed Assist with budgeting and kitchen cost management Support staff onboarding and training in kitchen procedures Qualifications Culinary or hospitality management certification preferred Minimum 5 years’ experience in lodge or hospitality kitchen management Must own a reliable vehicle – this is non-negotiable Stable, mature individual with sober habits (non-smoker, non-drinker) Skills Strong leadership and organisational skills Proficient in Excel and stock management systems Benefits Live-in (Bachelor flat) Meals on duty
