Hotel-Based Role: ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER VACANCY Location: Plettenberg Bay / Garden Route region, Western Cape Property Type: 4★ Boutique Hotel Salary: R35,000 per month Accommodation: Not offered Transport: Own transport required (favourable for commute) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in overseeing all operations of a busy 4★ hotel. You will act as a strategic partner and hands-on leader, ensuring departments deliver on guest satisfaction, profitability, and brand standards. You will be responsible for stepping into leadership across guest services, food & beverage, housekeeping, front office, and operations, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and elevated service delivery. This is your opportunity to grow in a senior operational capacity in a desirable coastal location. Key Responsibilities Assist in daily oversight and coordination of all hotel departments (Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Guest Services). Maintain high guest satisfaction standards through attention to service, problem resolution, and quality assurance. Support and enforce standard operating procedures, brand policies, and service protocols. Lead, train, coach, and support departmental heads and staff to uplift performance and team culture. Participate in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control initiatives. Monitor departmental performance (KPIs, budgets, revenue vs cost) and take corrective action where needed. Stand in as acting GM when required, making decisions and representing the property. Liaise closely with ownership/management for strategic planning and operational growth. Drive cross-departmental alignment and smooth guest flow across arrival to departure. Address guest complaints, ensure prompt resolution, and follow-up to maintain relationships. Requirements & Qualifications Minimum 5 years’ management experience in luxury hotel operations (min. 4 star level) Strong exposure to Food & Beverage management and service operations. Demonstrable guest relations excellence with ability to resolve challenging service scenarios. Good commercial skills: ability to manage budgets, P&L, forecasting, and cost control. Leadership capability: mentoring, coaching, and developing teams. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to operate hands-on in a fast-paced environment and work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
