Deputy General Manager – Luxury Hotel | Cape Town We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy General Manager to join our leadership team at one of Cape Town’s premier luxury hotels. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this pivotal role provides strategic and operational leadership across all key departments — including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Spa, Guest Experience, Security, and Engineering. You will play a central role in shaping the hotel’s culture, service delivery, and transformation journey toward becoming Cape Town’s most loved luxury destination. As both a hands-on operator and strategic business partner, you will drive excellence in guest satisfaction, financial performance, and team engagement, while acting as second-in-command in the General Manager’s absence. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily hotel operations to deliver consistent five-star standards. Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing, service-driven team. Partner with the General Manager and Executive Committee to execute the business and service strategy. Ensure excellence in guest experience, operational efficiency, and brand consistency. Maintain financial discipline through strong forecasting and P&L management. Qualifications & Experience Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management or Business Administration (essential). Postgraduate or executive management qualification (advantageous). Minimum 10 years’ senior hotel management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership capacity (AGM, DGM, Hotel or Operations Manager) within a luxury or five-star environment. Proven track record overseeing multi-department operations. Proficiency in Opera PMS, Micros, and related hotel systems. Personal Attributes Strategic and commercially astute, with a deep understanding of the Cape Town hospitality market. Emotionally intelligent and people-focused leader who leads by example. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Passionate about delivering world-class guest experiences and operational excellence.
