With offices in Iowa and Nebraska and projects spanning coast to coast, we serve a wide range of clients, from local municipalities to some of the top 100 food and beverage companies. Our expertise includes refrigerated and cold storage, process buildings, packaging systems, and infrastructure for food processing and manufacturing. The position is responsible for managing a wide variety of construction projects and representing the company on assigned projects, working with the owner, architect, engineer, and subcontractors during the project development, construction, and warranty periods. Duties include: assisting in the activities of job superintendents; preparing building budgets, estimates, taking bids for materials, purchasing and expediting supplies and materials, developing and updating schedules, processing and tracking change orders, coordinating staffing, making periodic job site visits to coordinate the activities of all work crews on assigned projects. Responsible for supporting and promoting DSC culture through effective Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA). Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the duties and responsibilities of Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators Duties/Responsibilities: Serve as the Account Manager for assigned clients, accounts, and projects, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction. Collaborate with the Business Development team in the early stages of projects, participating in client interviews and proposal development. Lead project planning efforts, delegate tasks to the project team, and oversee proposal preparation. Develop detailed project budget estimates and ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain responsibility for Profit & Loss (P&L), overseeing financial performance and ensuring profitability. Track job costs, review project budgets, and approve invoices, ensuring accurate financial reporting. Price all project changes and manage job costs efficiently. Manage multiple large-scale projects exceeding $10 million, ensuring timely and successful completion. Study project specifications, estimate labor-hour requirements, and develop project schedules and phases based on resource availability, subcontractor scope, and construction methodologies. Provide essential project information to job superintendents, ensuring clarity on scope, objectives, and expectations before project initiation. Work closely with superintendents to address construction challenges, technical details, and client concerns. Serve as the primary liaison between owners, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring smooth project execution and issue resolution. Lead job site construction meetings, ensuring adequate staffing, materials, and equipment for project completion. Conduct periodic site inspections to oversee operations, enforce safety and quality standards, and support project teams. Oversee the procurement of materials and tools, ensuring timely deliveries and efficient project execution. Direct job superintendents in expediting purchases and tracking subcontractor and supplier payments against project budgets. Manage the processing and tracking of project change orders, ensuring cost control and contractual compliance. Prepare building budgets, estimates, and bid packages for subcontractors and materials. Negotiate pricing, analyze construction challenges, and recommend solutions to enhance project efficiency. Coordinate project close-out and warranty requirements, ensuring seamless transitions and client satisfaction. Provide training, mentorship, and leadership to Project Managers and Project Engineers. Oversee hiring, promotions, and terminations for Project Engineers, Coordinators, and higher-level positions. Participate in the interview process for Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Coordinator candidates as directed by the VP of Operations. Ensure superintendents enforce safety regulations, adhere to company policies, and maintain high-quality standards throughout the project. Monitor and enforce quality control standards throughout the construction process. Interpret company policies and recommend personnel actions, including promotions, transfers, disciplinary measures, and discharges. Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring adherence to deadlines and milestones. Lead internal pre-construction, progress, and job close-out meetings to align project teams. Assist superintendents with weekly workforce scheduling, coordinating manpower and equipment allocation. Oversee project documentation, ensuring all paperwork, RFIs, and submittals are processed in a timely manner to prevent delays. Ensure project superintendents receive all necessary project information for smooth execution. Make strategic recommendations on bidding processes, staffing levels, capital equipment purchases, and project improvements. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of projects and organizational goals. Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed above Typically requires 12 years of experience, with an exceptional understanding of all contract types and the ability to lead teams independently. Physical Requirements: Occasional physical activity such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and performing repetitive motions. Work may involve exposure to a range of outdoor weather conditions, including varying temperatures, long hours, weekend, and holiday duties. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.
