Responsibilities Oversee and manage legal matters at PRF (including Purdue for Life and Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy), with primary focus on real estate, general corporate matters, and employee relations. Real Estate Oversee and work with Economic Development Office (EDO) team on complex real estate transactions, deals, and leases to determine best structure and lead drafting and development of related agreements Oversee closings and coordination of all real estate transactions Oversee and manage lease drafting, true ups, and tax filings for all PRF owned facilities and land Supervise leasing director in management of real estate portfolio owned or leased by PRF Work with Purdue University Real Estate Department on coordinated real estate transactions and closings Create and enforce policies and processes for leasing and real estate transactions Coordinate notification and valuation for all properties with Purdue Office of Risk Management for insurance purposes General Corporate Matters Advise PRF general counsel, PRF operating committee and, board of directors on legal matters Select external counsel for various projects and oversee their work Work with Purdue’s Office of Legal Counsel on legal matters that involve both PRF and PU Supervise leasing director and EDO executive assistant in the proper filing of all real estate documents Employee Relations Work with Human Resources and external counsel on HR legal matters, including related employment litigation Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Strong legal analysis and management skills Ability to work closely with academic and business communities, senior business leaders, professional service providers, community leaders and University officials Excellent verbal and written communication skills Occasional availability to respond to emergency situations after normal office hours Required Education, Experience and Benefits Summary Juris Doctorate required Five years of experience in real estate development and/or transactional legal work Minimum 3 years of in-house counsel experience Benefits Summary for eligible employees: 10 paid holidays per year.
