Senior Quantity Surveyor – Claims & Contracts Location: Stockton-on-Tees Company: TJ Hazell (Engineering Consultants) Ltd, part of the Wolviston Group About Us TJ Hazell has been providing civil and structural engineering services for over 45 years. We are part of the Wolviston Group, a trusted partner to clients across construction, energy, petrochemical, and infrastructure sectors. We are now launching a new Claims, Quantity Surveying & Contracts Services division, headed by our Group MD, dual-qualified Quantity Surveyor and Construction Law professional, RICS Adjudicator, accredited Expert Witness, and former HKA consultant. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join us at the start of this journey and play a key role in shaping the division. The Role As Senior QS – Claims & Contracts, you will: * Prepare, defend, and manage claims (delay, disruption, loss/expense, variations). * Draft, review, and negotiate NEC / JCT / FIDIC contracts. * Support adjudication and arbitration cases with forensic analysis. * Deliver pre- and post-contract cost management, forecasting, and value engineering. * Advise clients on risk, procurement strategies, and commercial management. * Contribute to business development and client presentations. About You We’re looking for someone with: * 8 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management (civils, infrastructure, or major build). * Strong claims and contracts experience, ideally with exposure to disputes or adjudication. * Working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts (FIDIC desirable). * Excellent written and client-facing communication skills. * RICS or CIOB membership preferred; LLM or adjudication/claims training an advantage.
