Job Summary:
Reporting to the Administrative Services Director, the Human Resources Generalist supports a broad range of HR tasks related to the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to benefits administration, performance management, and employee relations. The Human Resources Generalist has the abilities necessary to organize, coordinate, document and manage human resource activities and functions, support payroll and benefits and continuously improve our employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes operating safely, responsibly, and productively.

Overview:
Located in the historic iron range mining region of northeastern Minnesota, NewRange is a 50:50 joint venture of subsidiaries of Teck American Inc. (Teck) and PolyMet Mining Corp. (Glencore) that is advancing two major copper-nickel-platinum-palladium deposits, NorthMet and Sunrise. Project activities range from readying the feasibility stage NorthMet project for a production decision pending clearance of mine permits to advancing the nearby Sunrise project to pre-feasibility studies and permitting. NewRange is committed to unlocking a new domestic supply chain of critical metals for the transition to a low-carbon economy and positioning Minnesota as a world leader in sustainable mineral resource development.
Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on the common values on health, safety, environment, and communities shared by the asset owners.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: post job openings, screen resumes, schedule interviews, and manage the onboarding process for new hires.
- Benefits Administration: support employee benefits programs such as health insurance and retirement plans, ensure all benefit plan materials distributed are updated and consistent with plan designs, support benefit orientations and other benefits trainings for employees, and assist employees with insurance questions, issues, and discrepancies.
- Employee Relations: address employee concerns, handle employee relations issues, and conduct investigations. Champion an open-door policy for employee concerns.
- Performance Management: assist with performance management processes, provide feedback, and support employee development and training.
- Compliance: ensure the company adheres to labor laws and company policies and standards, participate in the development and administration of programs, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company, and protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with policies, standards, procedures, labor laws and regulations.
- HR Administration: maintain employee records, support workers’ compensation programs and employee leaves of absence including FMLA, update handbooks, and manage other HR documentation.
- HRIS Administration: manage the HRIS system to collect and analyze pertinent HR personnel information that meet organizational and legal compliance needs, coordinate training programs and records, and manage time and attendance requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. Graduate degree in relevant field would be beneficial.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
- Experience with payroll and benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of HR principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- High level of proficiency working in MS Office and with HR software and systems (Paylocity and SAP preferred).
- SHRM certified preferred.
- Effectiveness in building working relationships and working in multi-disciplined teams.
- Ability to work across all levels of the business and influence outcomes.
- Valid drivers' license.
