Job Description

Qualifications, Skills and Required Competencies to meet the Job Outcomes: Grade 12/11/10 Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License and PrDP - non negotiable A minimum of two (2) years ongoing experience as a competent driver Excellent communication skills in English, and one other language. Interpersonal relationship skills Assertiveness Self-management Knowledge of road assets The physical demands are those required to work on shift rotating basis as the driver of a light vehicle and to remove obstacles from the road. The work environment characteristics are those encountered in a motor vehicle and outside in all kinds of weather conditions. A limited period of time is spent in an office. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Ensure shift handover / vehicle handover report is completed timeously; Patrol the Highway 2 Trips per shift and remove obstacles from the road; Patrol the Highway to determine damage to the road, road furniture and photograph damages. Respond to calls and motor vehicles crashes; Assist stranded motorists; Make sure the road is cleared of any debris / safe to travel on before re-opening the road. Reporting of such to the control office and recording of such on the relevant forms; Adhere to RIMS protocols and procedures; Booking of vehicle scheduled maintenance / service; Ensure Patrol vehicle is kept clean and neat at all times; Endangered Wildlife Trust data collection and removal of roadkill animals; Collecting and transportation of mail from various Plazas to Head Office; Parking of vehicle in a protective way behind the scene as first line of scene safety; Setting up of traffic accommodation measures according to relevant protocols and scene situation; Make preliminary assessment of the scene; Provide situation report to Comms Office; Communicate with other role-players on scene and provide assistance where required; Make full assessment of the following and provide the feedback to the exact location of the incident (Route, Direction, Location) Lanes (How many and which lanes are affected) Vehicles (How many and what type) Patients / Injuries (How many, extent of injuries, entrapments) Hand over scene when Authorities arrive on-scene; Provide input where needed regarding the management of the scene; Keep in constant communication with Comms Office providing them with scene updates; Complete all relevant forms (MVC and or Indemnity) with as much information as possible; Take necessary photos;.
