Join to apply for the Emergency Physician - Royal Columbian Hospital role at Fraser Health Authority Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) and Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH) are seeking 4 full-time Emergency Physicians to join our physician group (Columbia Emergency Physicians Association). Locum/temporary work opportunities are also available. The successful applicants will have CCFP (EM) or FRCPC (EM) certification and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. PALS or APLS certification within five years is also required for work within the region. ABEM certification is also eligible. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department settings, including trauma and pediatric populations. ATLS or other trauma-based certification (e.g., STRUC) is highly recommended. We are looking to hire applicants who will contribute to increasing the diversity of our sites, and EDI (equity, diversity, and inclusivity) principles guide hiring practices for our departments. Compensation for a full-time Emergency Physician (~13 shifts per month) is approximately $400,000 per year. Our collegial group of emergency physicians numbers approximately 70 and is one of the largest in the country. Scheduling is flexible and accommodates many physician preferences for shift distribution. The group offers maternity/paternity leave policies, vacation and senior-member plans, with an option for sabbaticals. Clinical practice between RCH and ERH offers variety and exposure to diverse populations in the Fraser Health region. Royal Columbian Hospital is home to residents in the FRCP Emergency Medicine training program at UBC. Both sites are University of British Columbia-affiliated teaching hospitals. Physicians at RCH/ERH are expected to attain a faculty appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine and to teach residents and UBC medical students on shift, with opportunities for further involvement in education at UBC. Both Eagle Ridge and Royal Columbian Hospitals are within a 30-40 minute drive of downtown Vancouver, offering access to outdoor recreation and city amenities. Facilities Eagle Ridge Hospital – Community hospital in Port Moody, BC. The ED has undergone renovation and expansion, with 24/7 Emergency services and >50,000 visits annually. Pediatric presentations comprise ~15%. Royal Columbian Hospital – Tertiary provincial referral hospital in New Westminster, BC. 24/7 emergency services with ~80,000 visits annually. Level-1 trauma center; serves as Fraser Health site for the UBC FRCP Emergency Medicine program. The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment is a multi-year project to expand acute care services, including a new Emergency Department opening in Summer 2025 with 75 beds (including a 4-bay resuscitation area and dedicated ED procedure room).
